"Thanks for submitting A MERRY COUGAR CHRISTMAS for consideration for our New Works Winter Festival 2015. I really enjoyed reading about the food court cougars. You are absolutely fearless when it comes to pushing comedy to the edge." (Tom Berry, ACME Theatre, 2014)

MonologueBank is very pleased to recommend the writing of Daniel Guyton. A MERRY COUGAR CHRISTMAS has numerous truly hysterical monologues; most of which are from the perspective of the character, Sylvia, a widow who now is seeking out love affairs with much younger men. Her wit and candor about her sex life are extremely refreshing and often hilarious. The jokes are clever, and the language is sharp. Yet below all the humor, there exists a character with lots of heart and the very human desire to be wanted. Wonderful pieces for older actresses.

Who knows what those sweet old widows are doing when they hang out at the mall? Well, Sylvia has her eyes on the hot young twenty-somethings she likes to pick up to make her feel young. But this Christmas Eve, it's her more cautious friend Ethel who is the object of sexy young Miguel's attentions. Interesting questions raised here about sexuality of women and the elderly.

If the idea of a septegenarian gal who cruises the Mongolian BBQ Palace for young 'uns appeals to you, then Mr. Guyton has written that play. "Hey if there's grass on the field, Ethel, I'm playing ball." Good work. Funny.
