Plays

  • BLERDS
DJ and his best friends are Straight A, honor roll students whose perfect record is tested when presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet their hero. The three perfect students skip school and cross DC to get to the convention center during the manhunt for the DC Sniper. BLERDS is a story of friendship, fandom, and fighting for whats's right.
  • Cross Roads: An Igbo Folktale
Using traditional African storytelling and the soulful music of Delta Blues artists including Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and of course Robert Johnson, Cross Roads is a magical retelling of the Robert Johnson myth. Centering on the relationship between Robert and the Hoodoo God of the Crossroads, Legba, this is a story about choice, faith, sacrifice, and what it takes to play the Blues.

  • Essential Starlite

Full of imagination and heart, Essential Starlite, is a well, essential addition to the fabric of superhero stories woven so thickly into our modern world. A moving story of young people trying to make a difference in a world that so often sees disabled bodies as disposable and worthless. Peercy deftly comments on current issues without being preachy and overbearing. Do yourself a favor and read this play!

Kubrickian's wholly unique premise allows a playfully dark meditation on the ways pop culture simultaneously unites and divides us. I am still grappling with questions about the limits of human communication days after finishing the play. Even if you have never seen a film by Stanley Kubrick, this play reveals how deeply art shapes the way we see ourselves, our families, and the World. I highly recommend Kubrickian!
