Wow, there is a lot crammed into this ten-minute play! "Uncovering" manages to walk a tightrope of writing about a truly horrifying process and yet still humanizing its participants, and delivering some great one-liners in the process. Kudos to Mallon for writing a piece that is both absurd and thoughtful. Well done.

A knowing ride through a horrifying (but you _know_ there are people out there who think this stuff is valid) patriarchal construct, where daughters are treated like commodities and vessels to be protected, Erin Mallon's short play holds a great deal of punch but doesn't come down on the predictable side of 'educating' those who are 'wrong' in this world. Constance and Jeremy presumably speak for most readers, but they exist in a world where despite their protests change is not inevitable. This makes it relatable and real. Good work.

Wow. To use a line in the play, "Shit is whack. Shit is so whack." Fascinating, horrifying, and intense, Mallon still manages to find some very funny moments to exploit in this sharp 10-minute piece that reads with the heft of a full-length. Terrific work.

Hilarious & frightening look at the conviction that comes from embedded familial manipulation.

Whew! Uncovering covers a LOT of ground in a short piece: purity culture, misogyny, patriarchy, homophobia, toxic masculinity, power dynamics, and questions of self-worth, all stirred together in a very funny and unsettling stew. And while the targets may seem easy pickings at first, there are uncomfortable layers still to be peeled back. The comedy is sharp throughout, no matter who's getting skewered, and Beth Anne is a dynamite character for a young actress to sink her teeth into. Squicky, this play is. I like it.

A fascinating look into the strange world of purity culture and an interesting portrayal of a young woman whose confidence and strength, though rooted in a perspective that seems fundamentally flawed, challenges us to examine the preconceived notions we may have about her belief system. This play is perfectly uncomfortable.

A very tightly written and chilling piece about the moment when love and devotion turn into control and the surrender of individuality. Powerful and frightening.

Mallon's play poses difficult questions, forcing the audience to watch and seriously consider what's behind the different viewpoints at work here. We may feel like this world is alien and ugly, but the people who populate it are steadfast in their beliefs.

A steady wave of merciless unease permeates through the piece as Constance does her best to suppress immediate judgement in favor of presenting an impartial portrait of an unorthodox practice.

    Easier said than done.

A chastity pledge where fatherhood arguably gets too controlling. Constance has had enough and fights for the young girls right to live, but the girl makes some good points for holding onto her heart until it'll be valued. Well done.
