Jerome

Upon the untimely death of their father, two estranged brothers must face off to determine the proper care for their schizophrenic brother Jerome. Alternately heartbreaking and hilarious, JEROME deals with familial love, responsibility, mental illness, and the critical choices that shape our lives. Read as part of Florida Rep's 2020 Virtual PlayLab, JEROME, is a must-read. This family saga deals with issues we all will face one day or another: what to do about our adult relations who need 24/7 care. The central character is a complex tour-de-force performance for an actor to dig into. The family dynamics explored keep you turning pages to the very end.

I really loved this play. It was tragic, sad and funny, and kept you wanting to know what was next. The characters and dialogue are very realistic, and you feel as if you know these people. It sheds light on an affliction I knew nothing about, but is also at the same time universal in it's tacking the dilemma of family loyalty. I loved the theatricality of it, and as I read, I felt as if I was watching the play. This play deserves a production. Great work!
