Allond(R)a

ALLOND(R)A tells the story of Allonda and her friends as they wrestle their way through the summer - sometimes it's on the playgrounds in the projects of Coney Island, sometimes it's with their feelings and often it's at home. A coming of age story about friendship and heartache, ALLOND(R)A asks how much is too much to fight for?

A fantastic coming of age play that is full of grit I would love to see a production of this anywhere.

Full of grit, full of wicked fast dialogue, full of beautifully complex and funny characters, it's everything that I want in a coming of age story. It's Ladybird meets GLOW meets The Sandlot meets the unique, fiery voice of Gina Femia. Somehow, she's crafted a story that feels nostalgic, but at the same time, fresh and new and full of hope. I can't stop thinking about it.

What a beautiful play that is both tender with and fair to its nuanced teenage characters. Gloriously hilarious at certain points, heartbreaking at others, it is unpretentiously yet consistently profound in scope! The highly theatrical world of wrestling is also seamlessly integrated and so crucial to the piece. I can't wait to see an awesome production of this some day!
