I saw this play last night and it was masterful. Yee took us on a two hour emotional journey that I don't know if I've fully recovered from. Everyone needs to move this to the top of their must see/read lists now.

Best play I've read of Lauren Yee's to date. It's powerful and poignant and surprising and theatrical and funny and a master class in all the things a good play should be.

Read this in "American Theater," and checked out the music on Spotify. Yee’s script is at once specific and transcendent, a survivor’s tale, describing how music can make us complacent in times of crisis, and also be a powerful weapon of hope and survival. A Cambodian Scheherazade preserves his own life through rock and roll, but his sacrifices are almost overwhelming. A powerful warning for our time, for those of us who fiddle while the world burns. Highly recommended.

This play is powerful. It takes the war in Cambodia and educates us in a way we are almost not ready to hear. Heartbreaking and wild. And it rocks, super, super hard. One of the best new plays I’ve ever seen.

This is one of the best new plays I've encountered in a very long time. It's powerful, funny, theatrical, and full of excellent music. I hope this play gets produced all over the world.
