What a wonderfully-written completely engaging monologue this was! Witty, poetic, and I loved the humorous twist at the end involving the woman the protagonist loved. I loved them having the same idea and how they were going through the same thing thanks to a pair of magpies. Well done!

An eloquent monologue, poetic, lyrical. A magpie steals a woman's ring, a ring she intends to give to her lover on bended knee during a romantic picnic. Is the magpie stubborn or just unable, with its bird brain, to grasp the gravity of its actions? The woman asks & then demands that the magpie return the ring, and then threatens to to fetch it herself. But she doesn't want her behavior to damage the bird's nest and, in turn, taint her romantic gesture. A must read - the ending is surprising. Would love to see this performed live. Stunning.
