The complicated dance of a not-quite-over marriage, with a moving and unexpected ending. Cheers to Donna Hoke for finding a seamless way to shift times and locations without long-drawn-out set and costume changes.

There's a whole lot of history between characters Britt and Joe, and Donna Hoke's command of their complications and great humor means we want to know more, all the time. A terrific, very grown-up story of what can go wrong between people who love each other, and how hard it can be to right the ship.

This is a charming and delightful and moving play. Donna Hoke's writing is sharp and funny and the play is quite touching without ever drifting into sentimentality. We have selected it for production and expect it to be a wonderful experience for our audiences.

"Flowers in the Desert" is a wonderfully challenging and fun play to direct. There are layers and layers to be discovered, and the actors have a great journey of discovery, as well. When the audience comes, the fun and moving journey is theirs.
