I had the honor of reading this play as part of the Jane Chambers Award Committee in 2022. This play examines a complex and interesting turn within the Catholic church as they attempt to reckon with hundreds of years of sexism within a short time frame to keep "current" with their parishioners. The protagonist, Joan, is a compelling character whose journey with religion, faith, and sexism unfold through flashback and varying conflicts with sexism within the Roman Catholic religion that make for a compelling examination of those who dare to challenge long-standing establishments like the Catholic Church.
