A twist on our current state of affairs. Feels otherworldly but within reach, that's why it's so relevant- I often feel we're not too far from this kind of state-level control on the bodies of women/non-binary folk. Rachel Bublitz has captured that feeling perfectly in this short yet compelling piece. And for those not hip, the subversion of gender makes the absurdity of the culture's current power dynamics even more accessible.

This play is timely and relevant. It’s a perfect example of what happens when one sex is controlled by another. Both sides have a point, but until you walk in the others shoes you can’t appreciate their stance.

What an eerie and awesomely horrific play--the subverting of gender stereotypes and the parallel language used to discuss bodily autonomy are fascinating and electric. A great play with real punch behind it! Give it a read!

As a person who's fascinated by stories of women and power, I found this a treat. The reversal of the power roles is sharp and striking. This play makes it obvious how limited our usual vision is. It's timely and fun.

This play brilliantly takes one of society's biggest double standards and turns it on its head. Super smart and hilarious, until you remember how unfunny the reality is. Incredibly relevant to today's "smash the patriarchy" cultural ethos, this play is equally important for men and women alike to see. Entertaining, fun and horrifying all at once. Highly recommend.

The moment you dare have the inclination to think “this is outrageous, and completely implausible,” it slowly dawns that the premise Bublitz pursues in this play makes perfect sense. And, while men will surely find the circumstances unsettling, that’s precisely the point. It’s so much more than a “flip-the-script-in-power-dynamics-sketch.” Bublitz is working hard to help men understand the powerlessness women feel regarding reproductive rights. And when Laura extorts a smile from Patrick at the end, it’s a swift, hard kick to the goodies... and I’m embarrassed to say that it’s much deserved. Outstanding.

Yes a million times!! This is a very smart take on inequality and I want to see it produced in festivals everywhere. I love that Bublitz turns the table on gender causing us to feel empathy for the guy but also a complicated sense of almost solidarity with the woman representing the patriarchy in this piece. This might be the most important 10-minute play I've read in years.

A sharp, incisive ten minutes with timely satirical bite. Bublitz makes a provocative point with a vicious sense of humour, and establishes a fantastical yet tangible world with impressive texture given the constraints of the piece's length. This is a piece I'd love to see find a full-length form, but as is, it's a fiercely effective short play.

Defamiliarization at its very BEST! Thank you Ms. Bublitz for writing this brilliant play! Perfect is too small a word. I absolutely enjoyed this down to the smile and the final comment at the end. Every moment of this play spread a gleam of joy through my being and for those ten minutes of reading bliss Jupiter aligned with Mars. . .

“My Body” is a brilliant play highlighting our hypocrisies. Rachel captures the irony within the satire of the words, that the inequality exposed within its 10 pages starkly demonstrates who we are as a society. 10/10 easily. Thank you, Rachel. Your work makes me want to be a better man.
