Hilariously raucous and ultimately moving, Bavoso’s take down of MLMs is the best kind of comedy, giving us laughs, but more importantly some real food to chew on. Holding a knife and grimly lurking beneath the surface of this play is a brilliant commentary and exploration of marriage, one’s purpose in the cogs of capitalism, and society’s eternal obsession with murrrrderrrrrr. The pyramid scheme item of choice will provide costume designers no end of fun, and each actor gets a chance to really dig into some lovely material. And don't forget the fight scenes. Highly recommend.

A fascinating and thoroughly entertaining look into crime and career that takes things to scandalously fun places! Excellent!

I love a good dark comedy—almost as much as I dislike predatory business models. MLM IS FOR MURDER is at once subtly witty and over-the-top insane, full of great roles for women, and ultimately a very intelligent look at what, exactly, drives us to making red-flag-level bad decisions--business, moral, or otherwise. I’m eagerly awaiting the chance to see this performed! Bravo!

A love letter to My Favorite Murder with incredible rolea for women: this play is so much fun! Bavoso's signature wit keeps the audience laughing while he explores issues surrounding work, capitalism, relationships, and success.
Stay sexy and read this play!

Admirably lives up to the juiciness of its premise. There's a fun line or two on every page; the dialogue crackles, and there are great big speeches for three women, all of which would be a fantastic treat for the right actors.

A FABULOUS satire that has everything from Mormons to multi-level-marketing schemes to true crime podcasts to academics to corporate jobs to, yes, murder. Alternatively funny and horrifying, "MLM is for Murder" is a deceptively complex take on what happens when we choose to fight against the prescribed narratives of our lives. Bavoso is savvy enough to cast his story in shades of gray, highlighting the moral ambiguities of his characters' actions--when a character attains success, there are always consequences. A blast to read, and a play I can't wait to see staged!

OMG, Yes! John Bavoso’s witty and compelling play is a smart and engaging commentary of our time. Fantastic mix of authentic and over the top characters. Would love to see this produced.

OH man... with several friends who got sucked into the Multi-Level Marketing fashion world, and several other friends who listen religiously to true-crime podcasts, this script hit all right notes for me. An absolute hoot! I'd love to see this onstage.

What fun! What dark, twisted fun! A terrific satire on multi-level marketing, true crime, and capitalism (among other things), John Bavoso's MLM is for Murder (Or, Your Side Hustle is Killing Us) kills. Literally and figuratively. I nearly died laughing, myself.

Bavoso captures our fascination with true crime podcasts and why killers may do the things they do while satirically skewering the high stakes world of direct sales (or MLM). But he's up to something deeper as he shows us how we can all find ourselves stuck in a world where work can quickly overwhelm our life. Dark and also very funny.
