THANK YOU! Belle's story has always bothered me. JENNIFER O'GRADY gives Belle the voice she always needed. This monologue is a modern and youthful perspective of a smart, competent, and of course beautiful young girl, who will never the see the world, or her role in it, the same again.

Belle gives us the story behind the story. Her take is hysterical, even when the underlying themes are more serious and pointed. It's delightful to see Belle find her true happily ever after.

A captivating balance between dark and hilarious; I'd never even considered the villainous traits her father could possess! Loved it!

This is a fun, fast paced take on a traditional fairy tale. In such tales we rarely get to understand just how the princess feels, but here Jennifer gives us a peek into the mind of Belle as she figures out where her life is going. A great monologue for an actor to get to grips with.

This monologue in which Belle finally finds her happily ever after is delightful! I love how it points out the many (many!) things wrong with the fairy tale in such a humorous way. This would be a ton of fun for an actor to perform, and I would love to see the animated sequel that begins when this monologue ends.

What a treat to hear this monologue performed on Writer's Block Radio Hour in Scotland. A funny, feisty take on what really happened to Belle that will appeal to all adventurous spirits. A terrific audition piece and a fabulous dramatic work. Kudos to Jennifer O'Grady for the new -and needed- perspective.

A wonderful, rich work written for performance! O'Grady gives us a Belle full of sash and spunk and self-empowerment! Just loved it!

Good fit for a spunky actress, filled with moments of defiance, humor, vulnerability, and power! I could see teen actresses especially enjoying this piece for performance or as audition material.

Lots of fun to hear what REALLY happened to Belle. Fun for a festival and certainly for an actress to go to town with!

I absolutely love this monologue. It is so fun. Fun to read, fun to perform--Belle is no wilting damsel in distress in this, and more than that, she's absolutely hilarious and snarky. This play also has a great message about how we can damage young women by telling them that they are nothing without men--and how women can take control back of their own lives. Empowering, super funny, and witty--O'Grady has done it again!
