Lila has always called this place home. This place where the sun beats down hard and there’s nothing to do but drink and then drink some more. But she has dreams of a better life, and she can almost remember what they were. Jake tumbled into town with a couple of bags and fell deep for the pretty girl with all the dreams.

Neither one of them remembers how long ago that was. But as they sit at their tiny kitchen table in their tiny mobile home, the events of last night on a dark road in the middle of the night force them to face this existence they have for too long called a life.
