Every day that goes by this remarkable, hilarious, and horrifying two-hander reverberates more and more powerfully. This is a play for this year, next year, and whenever fundamental human rights are under attack. That said, it's profoundly human with two engaging, endearing, and relatable characters.

The community of national and local readers for the 45th annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival in 2022 enthusiastically recommends FUNNY, LIKE AN ABORTION as a Semi-Finalist at Playwrights Foundation. We were deeply moved by the reality the play explored. We were compelled by the play’s promise in its robust characters and its well executed use of dark comedy and convention. We hope this play is widely read, finds dedicated collaborators, and moves swiftly towards production. #BAPF2022

Bublitz has done something shocking, funny, and utterly brilliant with “Funny, Like An Abortion." The humor actually underscores the depth of despair that these characters are experiencing. So depressingly prescient, her dark comedy allows us to experience the seriousness of the subject matter while somehow making us laugh at the same time. It is uncomfortable, hilarious, heartbreaking and incredibly masterful. Highly recommend!

Heavy, frightening, and, yes, funny. The use of chance, movement and fourth wall breaking make this script highly theatrical. The jabs and truths will hopefully call the audience to action.

I have NEVER seen a play about such an important and controversial topic such as Abortion that just does it RIGHT. It is poignant yet not preachy, it is raw and real, it is flipping hilarious in a way that makes me so comfortably uncomfortable, and it is RESPONSIBLE. The clever use of the selective destruction of the fourth wall allows us to ease the audience into this journey while not worrying about perpetuating misinformation related to dangerous medical alternatives. I cannot wait to read this show again. SO GOOD!

A vital play for our current time. Loved the breaking of the fourth wall.

I saw this streamed as part of the Playground SF production. It's funny, intense, and truly frightening. It needs to be produced right now, as many times as possible, as widely as possible.

Absolutely absorbing. This play is an utterly frightening and utterly funny call to action. Set in a world where abortion has been criminalized, freedom of speech has been stomped, neighbors have been turned against each other, and the freedoms we take for granted today have been eradicated. It's "1984" with cupcakes, pop culture references, and laugh-out-loud gallows humor. They literally juggle abortifacients right before a frantic and desperate tap dance. I loved every minute.

Alarming, disarming, and unfortunately all too relevant. "Funny, Like An Abortion" feels like a whiplash inducing gut punch from an Abbot and Costello act. Bublitz presents a bleak world in a wonderfully sardonic light. A play that challenges the audience to listen, to laugh nervously, and hopefully change some minds.

An insightful and important commentary on the history that has led us to where we are regarding abortion and women's rights. Well done.
