Benne has bestowed upon us a feast for the senses and a playground for the soul. There is as much pain as there is hope as there is inspiration.

The language is lush and poetic yet concise. Characters so real you can reach out and touch them yet the world they inhabit defies reality as we know it and slips through your fingers like sand in an hourglass.

A dazzling mastery of the art form and honest to god magic.

A beautiful, hilarious, and gentle coming of age play. The intimacy so deftly depicted here is often incredibly hard to capture onstage, and this piece succeeds both as a highly theatrical read while also being one that explores some really nuanced and multi-dimensional characters. Milo is one of the most human and vividly realized protagonists I've had the privilege of getting to know, and it was also a delight feeling seen as a reader by his story. What a gift of a play that I hope to see a production of soon.

Probably one of the best unproduced play that I've read in a long time. Its incredibly magical and melancholy, in the same vein of Sarah Ruhl. Not only is it a delight to read, but to hear the language that Benne spins is truly transcendent. It's perfectly well paced. Its great for a midsized space with an inventive director to bring the magic to life.

It is hard not to get swept away into this magical, sexual, tender play. Benne is a master craftsman of rich visceral theatricality. Every play I read makes me fall in love with Benne's style and want to be anywhere their plays are willing to take me. I cannot recommend this play enough!

Visceral in the best way possible. Using poetic language, a fluidity of movement and pace, and the perfect amoung of angst, querencia shines as bright as the lights on its carousel.

A spectacle of tween angst and sexuality that makes it a play like no other. It's also really funny. And the fluidity of the action and conflict from start to finish showcases a playwright who thinks outside the box when it comes to structure. This is a fine example of a contemporary play where unconventional structure effectively serves story. Study it for that. The long history of its development and recognition all over the nation (!) is proof of the play's power. Raw. Real. Read it now. Megaphone blast: Attention, Artistic directors. Put this playwright on your radar!

A really wonderful script by a writer I am grateful to now be aware of. The characters and situations feel familiar while the writing and portrayals feel completely fresh and exciting for theatre. Should be on everyone's list to read and in everyone's season planning considerations.
