Daughters of the Moon is a thriller that won't let up. The unlikely alliance between Kokuma, a runaway slave, and Julia her former master fuels the tension of this unforgettable story. The pair are hunted by men on horses as they try to reach for freedom. The chase is so real your heart runs with them to place of fear and magic ultimately asking what does it cost to be human.

This play is a heart-wrenching, fearless, scrupulously truthful portrayal of the crime of slavery and the many crimes of violence and evil compounded within it. Kokuma is a heroic young girl whose journey is riveting. This play is full of suspense. Edmund is not afraid to make his audience face descriptions of unthinkable violence. There are also moments of magic juxtaposed with these horrors. Kokuma is a brave, resourceful character any actress would love to play. Glad this is the first in a collection of plays because I care so much about Kokuma's family and I'm hungry to read more.

This poetic, suspenseful, and surprising play captivated me. I loved the language and the unfolding of relationships within the harsh realities of their situation. The stakes kept going up, and when those magical moments occurred, they felt true and necessary.

DAUGHTERS OF THE MOON is a thrilling survival adventure, historical and poetic, with strong themes on race, gender, and empowerment. This script would make an excellent educational touring production for audiences high school and older.
