Charming and very theatrical. Fiona and Amy are sharply drawn characters and the progressively more surreal advice Ranger Phil offers for dealing with bears is quite engaging. It's heartening to see Amy and Fiona in a better place after their encounter with a bear.

Take note: there will be bears in your life. If you can deal with them as well as Amy and Fiona, you may have an interesting, long life. Or you could be food for the bears - your choice.

A funny play with sharp dialogue, vivid characters, and a poignant surreal detour that is still on point. A great play about relationships, and what to do about bears.

What starts as a fun play about an adventure in a park frequented by bears, along with a YouTube park warden, suddenly takes a bizarre and hilarious twist. These two ladies are no smarter than the average bear, as I do believe throwing children at said bears is not the best advice!
I love this fun and whacky play, I'd love to see it staged, mainly for the dance sequence. Love it!!

Does a bear sit in the woods? Yes, it does! And that simple ursine action is the impetus here for a humorous conversation between main characters, Amy and Fiona. This script takes some really unexpected twists and turns. Overall, I found it to be beary entertaining stuff!

I had the privilege of leading a workshop on and then producing this play - at each show, the play’s verve and unexpected twists kept the audience in stitches! The theme of growing up and becoming self-reliant (as well as reliable for others) unfolds beautifully and pairs well with the existential surrealism (Ranger Phil being a stand-in - perhaps - for the fear of what’s “out there” - and wow, he is SUCH a delight!). A piece that more than delivers on the cleverness and creativity of its title!

Ava Love Hanna is such a sparkling comedic writer that dialogue pops and crackles down the page. This play is no exception with a couple of bumbling nature amateurs trying to figure out how to survive in the wilderness. There’s heart and poignancy in this script too, and that’s ultimately what raises it to the next level. Would make a great summertime show!

Sweet, funny play with unexpected lessons on life. If I ever encounter a bear, I hope the experience is as entertaining as this one.

Surreal and absurd with hilarious comedic opportunities. If you live in bear country, your audience will get a total kick out of this gem!
