The key to longer pieces for me is to make them addictive, drawing the audience in until they are desperate to know where the story is leading or what the next turn is. That is what Tina has done exceedingly well here. You, as an audience member, are given the chance to be a fly on the wall in this intimate setting that is interjected by tension, emotions, and secrets. Coupled with that, it also offers a great chance for an older actress to embrace the complexity and curiosity that is Jane!

A drama that will certainly take you on quite a ride, one you will be gripped to for the duration. Excellent!

What an unstoppable engine Esper has built here with Neighbor Jane. This play kept me on the edge of my seat! The characters are so well written, and the play keeps spinning and deepening as we move forward to its inevitable end. Strange, intense, hilarious, and marvelous work! What a great night out this would be!

This wonderfully suspenseful, surreal play takes you on a journey of truth, jump scares, and poetry and as you learn more about the characters, your opinions and thoughts will change. A great play for four dynamic actors and a star vehicle for an older woman! Read (and produce) this play!

Tina's taut four-hander bristles with purpose, rounded out by both a subtle surrealism and thoughtful mythology pulled from its Minnesotan landscape. Neighbor Janes features a sensational titular role for an older actress (the monologues are particularly potent!), and delivers a satisfying reminder that the fight against gaslighting doesn't have to be pursued alone.

Wow. Tina has constructed this script masterfully—from the way bits of information are slowly revealed, how the whole thing is suffused with ambiguous menace, and bookended with poetry. These characters feel so alive, even just on the page—even Tony! Jane is a dream come true for the right actor. I can only imagine how delightfully tense it would be to sit in the audience watching this story play out before me. I highly recommend giving this play a read—and then producing it!

Neighbor Jane takes you places you don't expect to go--and then leaves you there with your questions, which is the point. In our current world, we're being challenged to ask questions, seek the truth, and dig deeper when something doesn't feel right.

Neighbor Jane is a play that keeps you on your toes, off-balance and searching for the right footing. Tina Esper manages to expertly balance supernatural intrigue with compelling human drama, keeping you guessing about who and what to believe until the very end.

Complete with a giant spectral bird, Neighbor Jane is a delirious drama that proves that the relationships that save us sometimes come unexpectedly from the destruction of our lives.
