    The past and present beautifully weave together in this memory play about a family with so much history and regret. I love how no one gets to be fully sympathetic in this play. They have all made mistakes and they are just trying to move past the expectations they were never able to live up to. At times, the overlapping dialogue makes this piece feel like a choreopoem. The dialogue is expertly placed.

    The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize Alexis Elisa Macedo as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Spring 2021 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. Picked up is a highly theatrical look at the past, present, and future memories of a Mexican-American family. Alexi's deft hand with time and inter-family tension amounts to a play that is engaging and fulfilling for an audience. Our congratulations and thanks to Alexis.
