Super fun to read. Suspense, intrigue, backstory and murder all wrapped up in a tight package. Great work Ryan Kaminski!

What a corker! In this short play Ryan Kaminski skillfully sets a scene, builds up tension to an unexpected and smart climax. There is little doubt that this would set the audience on the edge of their seats and jolt them dramatically as the conclusion is reached. Powerful theatre in just ten minutes - just about perfect!

Confession is notoriously good for the soul--but is it always wise or safe. This dark fable suggests it might be wise to approach the confession booth with a measure of prudence and caution.

An excellent piece! Confessionals are always great for drama, and this one is no exception. The tension builds nicely, and the twists are effectively done. This would definitely make an excellent addition for any 10-minute festival that would have it!

I loved “The Penance” so much, it grabbed my attention immediately. Who doesn’t love a true confessional play? I gasped at the masterful surprise turn Kaminski’s play took at the end, and can’t wait to read (and see) more of this fine dramatists work. Well done!

Ryan Kaminski’s play "The Penance" takes us into the confessional booth, where Anne, a recovering alcoholic, unburdens herself. But the Priest isn’t what he seems, and the revelation of his dark intentions adds layers of suspense. Guilt, redemption, and betrayal collide in this gripping tale.

The TWISTS! This short drama keeps you on your toes the entire time, as you wait for the other shoe to drop, but there are so many more shoes than I was prepared for! A great example of what a ten-minute play can be in the right hands.
