  • Greg Mandryk: The Quake

A ghoulishly good bit of body horror. Williams peppers the first half of his script with hints of the threat his two young protagonists are destined to encounter. When the terror strikes and the panic kicks in, you'll be left squirming in your seat. And yes, the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast is superb!

So creepy, and quite terrifying. You get to know Jackie and Briggs and love their relationship. This play gets you to really invest in these kids and then scare you to death for them. Definitely listen to this one on Gather by the Ghostlight!

[11.15.24] A brutal bit of entomological horror. I really respect how this story pulls no punches and scuttled its way up my shivering spine! I will never forget the ending to this one, vividly performed on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast!

  • John Busser: The Quake

11.15.24 - Just listened to an amazing audio production of this on the Gather By The Ghost Light podcast. As always, a first rate sonic assault from them. But it all starts with this creepy script by Travis Williams, and boy, does it deliver the goods. Travis makes you care about the two boys, Jackie and Briggs, like something out of a King novel, where he gets you invested in the characters before dropping you into the horror about to befall them. Would love to see this staged.

Part of what makes Travis Williams' horror story, THE QUAKE, so effective is how well he sketches out the characters of Jackie and Briggs, the friendship they share, and the community that's raised them; going from the mundane wrongness before the monstrous wrongness is revealed.
