Artistic Statement

When I write, whether I am writing a play, novel or even a screenplay, I am searching for a way to commune with one person first, then with the many. Though my chosen subject matter may differ--a play about a bibliokleptomaniac, another about a family living next to the remains of the burned out Branch Davidian compound, or a screenplay about a multi-ethnic mini-mall the day the LA riots started, I look for ways to connect a reader or an audience member to my characters; to experience a jolt of self-recognition and the possibility of transformation.
