Artistic Statement

We spell playwright a bit funny, because I don't think of us as writers. We build drama through action, not merely words. If the characters on stage aren't working to do something, to act, we fail as playwrights. When it comes to genre, I try not to step in the same river twice, as my ADD holds sway over my interest - but usually (though not always) humor is involved. I've written a romantic comedy set among the Hassidim, an absurdist commentary on the modern workplace, a political commentary about Donald Trump set in 9th Century BCE Assyria, and a few screenplays along the way: thrillers, dramas, and this one thing about haunted breast implants that makes a lot more sense if you read it. I delight in mixing high and low cultures, and my influences are chiefly the Marx Brothers, Silver Age Marvel Comics, and the fact that I find the way people act to be both stupid and quite inevitable.
