Artistic Statement

My work runs the gamut from the genre, but it has a consistent sound. People often talk over to each other and don't really listen; sometimes they repeat themselves, sometimes they lie, and sometimes they explode. Most of the time, my stories tend to be about people having a really good time until they're having a really bad or weird time, and then how they cope with that. I believe that life is the funniest horror show there is. I often draw from my own experiences and the experiences of those close to me.

I am inspired by the past (specifically the 70's-00's), queer historical figures, subcultures, fringe cultures, punks, countercultural movements, David Lindsay-Abaire, Stephen King, Harmony Korine, Ira Levin, Daphne Du Maurier, Theresa Rebeck, Mike White, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, John Waters, Augusten Burroughs, pop culture, cartoons/graphic novels/comic strips. When I tell stories, they're all grounded in a specific time period even if the reality is heightened.

Ultimately, my work is made for outcasts; for I have only ever existed in this world as one, and it is the misfits, the underdogs, the loners, and the misunderstood who fuel my artistic fire and drive my desire to tell stories.
