Artistic Statement

I’m interested in gender, religion, sexuality, ickiness, discomfort, secrets, and the politics of familial and intimate relationships. In many of my plays, I explore the way that young people (their thoughts, feelings, desires, and the way they talk) often get mis-represented, under-represented, or censored on stage. I’m interested in both fierce empathy and deep darkness, and believe they can and should go hand in hand in art.
