Most of today's playwrights are really TV writers who write popular plays with populist themes that are easy on the brain and light on the soul, or they are so desperate to shock and disturb with orchestrated outrageousness it ultimately leaves one empty from the experience. That is not me nor is that my tradition; if Pirandello and O'Casey speak to you... if O'Neill, Williams and Albee are you kind of playwrights -works that provoke the mind and feed the soul- then you know where I come from.
