In a land torn apart by Civil War, two twinned heirs to the throne lie dead at one another’s hands and the new King -- their uncle Creon -- proclaims a brutal law to prevent a reiginited rebellion: his Rebel nephew’s corpse is to be desecrated and denied its burial rites. Their grieving sister Antigone embarks upon a crusade to honor her scorned brother in blunt defiance of the law, igniting a new battle for the people’s hearts and minds and shattering the fragile remnants of the family. This immersive, ensemble-based verse adaptation focuses on the struggle between familial and civic obligations in the wake of Terror with echoes of contemporary protest movements, Confederate apologism, and religious extremism. Original music for the choral odes was composed by Kara Arena (you may use the original score or compose your own) with all lyrics written by Montgomery Sutton.
