So many theaters, new play competitions, and fellowship opportunities are seeking the young "emerging" playwright. But what about us, the ones who emerged a little later? I want to expand opportunities not just for older playwrights (because I am one) but for older actors (50-up) who want new roles in new plays that go beyond the depictions of older characters in "Driving Miss Daisy" and "The Gin Game." My goal as a playwright, solo performer, and creative mentor is to create new work for and about older people that doesn't cast them as feeble and quaint but as sexy, smart, funny, and full of life. Like the people I know. Like the person I am.
