Artistic Statement

As I prepare scripts to upload, I am reminded that I am not a naturalistic writer. The fourth wall broke a long time ago. In my artistic world, the language is charged, the situations may be current or may be historic, and the characters may include puppets. Yet I also seek to be an economical writer, so that the actors can run the show. I learned a while back that what makes theater effective is its inexorable economy (two planks, a sock with two eyes sewn on) that draws in the audience and elicits emotions.
