I am a multi-medium dramatic writer; my work spans from straight plays to musical theatre (book and lyrics), television and film. My belief is that the story itself dictates what medium would best fit. I'm a language-driven writer; I love to access a world through the specific dialect, idioms and rhythms of a particular character. The story often reveals itself to me through that channel. My stories often explore facets of the African American experience; as an African American woman, I'm inspired to investigate and elevate our narrative. However, I am not limited to only telling stories about my own experience. I'm drawn to any story that's rooted in elements of destiny, purpose, heritage, overcoming the impossible and accessing one's power.
