Artistic Statement

As a playwright I am determined to write strong, passionate, engaging and entertaining roles for women and men - but with the emphasis on women. Under represented on stage historically and currently, I want to create roles that women want to play, and audiences care about and grow with. I want those roles to be a wide range of ages, offering actors across their lives opportunities to sink into something with heart. I believe in good stories that draw us in and take us on a journey with the characters, sharing both laughter and tears along the way. I believe in the power of a play to handle sensitive subjects and lead to new understanding of unspoken topics. Most of all, I believe that an audience should leave a theatre energised, engaged, with a broader insight into aspects of the human condition, and the desire to share their feelings and views.
