Artistic Statement

I've been a nationally ranked cheerleader, a punk rock radio personality, and sketch player, cutting my comedy teeth on HBO's Mr. Show with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. For many years I worked as a comedy TV writer, but a few years ago I returned to my roots - a classically trained theater actress. Currently, I write personal yet universal stories that examine trauma, depression, adversity, and American violence, using gallows humor and off-beat comedy as a Trojan horse. I've won some awards for them and gotten a lot of business cards from therapists.

Ultimately, the model for my work is to present stories, foster empathy, challenge the status quo, and help to create personal and social change. I believe sharing my own disabilities and limitations creates space and gives others permission to share their stories as well.
