My work is concerned with the intersection between the mythic and the modern. I’m fascinated by the way we continually re-enact old stories, often unconsciously. I find that even when I’m working in contemporary circumstances, mythic structures and themes still bubble up to the top of the stories. I’m interested in identifying and creating modern mythologies with the size and magic of the old ones. I dance between the old structures and the new. Embedded in all of my work is a subtle reconstruction of the world so that women matter more and have more empowered stories.
