Artistic Statement

I began writing at a dangerously young age in a very beautiful city in California named Inglewood. The bad habit of systemic fear in our world caused my beautiful hometown to be infected with violence. So, a young, black boy with the ability to write like I could was a threat to some, which is why I say dangerously young— because I was too young to witness these ugly truths of the world and especially with the ability and compulsive need to write them down and, then, share them. But it was this weird, dangerous gift that provided light in the darkest of hours and exposed the humanity of the dark in the lighthouses of the hood. It’s my goal and passion to bring this ability to the citizens of the world. Because I somehow know that if we can, at least, believe there is a balm to the great violence in the world we can then, and only then, discover that healing balm together and then learn what to do with it.
