After 20 years of a near sexless marriage, Beth and Stephen Middleton begin a trial separation.

Stephen, tired of his job as a librarian, is determined to be a stand-up comic and jumpstart a dormant sex life. Beth, a food writer, in the midst of perimenopause and hot flashes, fears losing her job and family. And, oh, she might be gay.

Sarah, their 17 year old daughter, kicks off her own sex life and attempts to make meaning of the world through the drudgery of college essays and the melancholy of her abandoning family.

This is a meaningful and tender comedy about our different perceptions of sex, the power it holds in each of our lives, and and the potential to challenge family commitment. The Sexy Part is a comedy that will last well beyond when the lights go out.
