Artistic Statement

My goals as playwright are to present human lives and their histories as triumphs in ambition, daring and love and to inspire audiences to “innervision” their own successes as they identify with the fictional and historical people of my plays. There are no “tragically flawed” victims nor “evil doers,” since no one sees her or his self through such lenses. Mine are human characters, living through the tragedies and temptations, that test us all.

Dialogue, how people talk to one another, is how we hear, misinterpret, lie and carve the word‑corner‑stone foundations of tomorrow. If “the play is the thing” that makes us different from birds fighting for nesting sites… and if it is also the thing that recognizes our bird-like images and likenesses… then my plays’ goal is to recreate our human calls and songs as recognized and beloved patterns of our essential lives.

All that has changed is the calendar. Times haven’t. Times are what they’ve always been. “Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.”
