Joni Weisfeld is a theater artist dedicated to creating intense physical performance. She is Artistic Director of THE OTHER VOICE Theater Company which creates non-verbal physical theater that explores the unsaid.

She received her BFA in Acting from The University of Connecticut, training in Suzuki with Eric Hill and in dialects and vocal production with Dr. David Alan Stern. She has studied with Thomas Prattki the current leader of LeCoq training and with Butoh master Atsushi Takenouchi. Her work with Mr. Prattki was the result of a large grant given from the National Artists Teaching Fellowship.

In New York City, Joni has performed at La Mama E.T.C., The Kraine Theatre, The Red Room, The 42nd Street Theatre, and countless other venues. Regionally, she has performed throughout New England and in National tours. As an associate member of ARTfarm Theatre Company in Middletown, Joni has appeared as Titania in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, as Olivia in TWELFTH NIGHT, as Phoebe in AS YOU LIKE IT, The Fool in KING LEAR and Smeraldina in THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS.

​As a Director, Joni’s work includes THE TAMING OF THE SHREW for ARTfarm, BREAKFAST FOR DINNER for the New York Fringe Festival, and an original adaptation of MEDEA performed at The 42nd Street Theatre in New York City. Joni directed the world premiere of “The System” for Co-Founder Theater Company in New York City. Co-Founder was dedicated to the production of new work, and Joni served on the board for over two years.

Currently, Joni is a Hartford based Director and Actor. She also serves on the adjunct faculty at The Hartt School at the University of Hartford where she teaches Movement and directs two plays a year. Recently Joni returned to her alma mater, The University of Connecticut, to serve on their adjunct faculty.
