Artistic Statement

As a dramaturg and reader, I am most interested in developing new works from emerging + untapped voices. Specific topics/themes that are interested to me right now are feminism and female separatism, LGBTQ+ characters and perspectives, magical realism, and always a well-written-but-not-overly-fussy period piece (anachronistic elements encouraged!). I do usually find joy in anything I'm working on though, and am open to a multitude of topics. I love to be startled, surprised, and challenged.

I believe in playwright-forward feedback that encourages writers to work toward their individual goals. In giving feedback, my focus is always on making the work more of what it is aspiring to become, on the playwright's terms.

As a playwright, my focus is on feminism, gender, LGBTQ+ characters (particularly bisexual characters), religion, academia, and female separatism. I love writing about women's place in historically male-dominated spaces. I am committed to gender equity in my work and love when an idea hits me for a piece that features an all-female cast!
