I started writing plays -- and continue being consumed by the drive -- to create multi-dimensional roles for women of all ages and strata. Partly, that comes from being an actor myself, and partly it comes from growing up in a college town in Mississippi (where there was no shortage of fascinating women from whom to draw inspiration).

A lot of my work takes place in the South because those are the rhythms I love. First and foremost I always begin with character. And even my dramas have a sizable chunk of comedy.
