Artistic Statement

Theatre is a difficult art: with funding threatened at every turn, an incredibly competitive job market, and complete subjectivity for who is “right” for a production it has driven many young artists like myself mad with desperation, frustration, and feelings of inadequacy. And yet, I cannot tear myself from it. I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the way it captures life, magic, love, death, pain, ecstasy, reunion, defeat, revelations, and a myriad of other facets of the human experience on a stage. I do what I do because I love wading through cultural expectations and norms, the effects of history, and individual circumstances to connect with an audience and be able to say, “We are human. We are capable of such great, deep empathy. Feel this thing with me – experience life with me.”
