  • it's not a trip it's a journey

I saw a virtual reading of Simpson's play by Chautauqua Theater Company and even through a computer screen I was moved and emotional. Simpson's writing is poetic and honest. "it was june and I was june" Is a line that will stay with me for a long time. I often feel like plays that deal with trauma pull me apart, but this play seemed to hold me together. Program this play and commission Charly for work, she's exceptional.

Lovely use of props. Short and sweet. Leaves you thinking about a lot. Thank you Steven for sharing this glimpse into humanity.

This is a lovely short play about two people that want to spend more together. Would be a great for a night of shorts. I could see college kids doing it as well. Leaves you feeling warm and pleasant inside.

Read this play! See this play! Tell your friends and your theaters about this play. It will stay with me for a long time. One of the best things I've seen, ever.
  • OCTOPUS KID: A BEACH MONOLOGUE
    19 Mar. 2019
Wyndham has some laugh-out-loud hilarious lines. I love the way he intertwines the seriousness of the public service announcement with the reality (and humor) of losing limbs and an urgent need for sun tan lotion. An actor would have a lot of fun taking this monologue on, and it's just in time for Earth Day!
