This show enables our Founders in their own words (which seem so unique to our modern ears) to speak from the past and remind us all that it is important to create opportunities where through music we are “united hearts and voices” (Adams), while “trusting in divine providence” (Washington) in order to regain the “perfect enjoyment of union and fraternal peace” (Lincoln).
Lincoln also acknowledges the role of women - especially in the story of Sarah Josepha Buell Hale who made Thanksgiving the American festival we enjoy today.
Scripted segments are sparse and few – 15-20:00 min. Founders remarks. 45:00 minutes singing. 5-10:00 remarks by local leaders. The show is a community event for inspired singing together.
"THANKSGIVING OF THE AMERICAN SPIRIT: The Founders’ Dreams" was written by Jean Yeager in 1986 and produced by Randy Tallman (1939-2007) for that year’s Republican National Convention and performed at Thanksgiving Square in Dallas, TX.
