I had the pleasure of attending a reading of this epic play about the beginning of the schism between China and Taiwan as seen through the eyes of the playwright and their relatives and ancestors. Fascinating and gripping.

Lisa has a gift for interweaving serious politics (in this case, the Israel/Palestine situation) and long-standing family conflicts and making it all very, very, funny, without taking away from the seriousness of the issues. Not an easy job, but she makes it look effortless.

A beautiful play, featuring innovative language and movement. One of the moments that stood out to me was when O's husband draws bruises on her - Jonathan dramatizes violence without heightening or romanticizing it. A wonderful mix of the very real and the very surreal.

I had the pleasure of attending the workshop at NYMadness, and it is a most tuneful and entertaining evening of comedic gore and darkness. Nat Cassidy is an incredibly talented performer, writer, and composer.
