    One-Act

Val/Granny [60s] breaks her leg and plans to tell her sole family, her granddaughter Pepper (early 20s) the secret about her Appalachian plot of land to sweeten the deal of running her tiny vegetable farm. Pepper visits Val with other plans in mind. She's leaving her steady girlfriend Britney, her unsteady job as an auto mechanic, and her identity as the 'token small-town lesbian' behind. She arrives at Granny's to break the news: Pepper plans to hop on a plane at midnight, with a lover (a man!) and leave her small patch of Western Maryland Appalachia behind. The complicated nature of identity, family expectations, and generational differences are all at play in "Inclinations."
