Chelsea Thaler (she/her/hers) is an actor, director, producer, administrator, and playwright, working in NYC and Washington, D.C. As an actor, Thaler’s focus is on new plays and reimagined classics. Thaler performed Off-Broadway in NYC under the direction of Princess Grace Award Winner Pavel Zustiak at La MaMa ETC. She has performed regionally at Studio Theatre, Arena Stage, Source Theater, Synetic Theater, and The Kennedy Center. Film and TV: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (CBS), Evil Kin (Investigation Discovery), Iron and Rage, and Made in America.

NYC Directing and Assistant Directing credits include: I Am The Gentry (United Solo Festival, Theatre Row), The Maltese Walter and Easter at the Entrée Gold (Classic Stage Company, Sam French OOB festival, AD), Good & Kissed (The Secret Theatre; Midtown Int’l Theater Festival 2017) and Here Comes Alice (Midtown Int'l Theater Festival 2014). Regional theater directing and assisting credits include Another Way Home by Anna Ziegler (Theater J, AD), Terminus (Studio Theatre, AD), The Intelligent Homosexuals Guide… (Theater J, 2nd Asst.), The Thrush and the Woodpecker (Source Festival, AD), and I Am The Gentry (Capital Fringe Festival, Pick of the Fringe 2015) 

Thaler has written over ten short plays. Thaler’s first full-length play, "Through the Wall", was commissioned by the Source Festival's Artistic Blind Date program in 2017, and had its world premiere at the 2018 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C.

As an acting coach, Thaler has coached dozens of young professional actors aged 4-17, who have gone on to perform on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in Regional theaters including Ford’s Theatre, Arena Stage, Olney Theatre Center, and The Shakespeare Theatre Company. She has served as a grant panelist in theater for the Maryland State Arts Council, and as a grant editor for the MSAC's Community Arts Development program, focusing on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the grant making process. She is the Programming Coordinator for the Ocean City Film Festival in Ocean City, MD.

Education + Training: SITI Company, Moscow Art Theatre School / Eugene O'Neill Theater Center (NTI), Stella Adler Studio of Acting - NYC, Studio Theatre Conservatory; B.A. Theatre Performance, American University. Thaler holds a master’s certificate in Arts and Culture Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania, is an associate member of Stage Director’s and Choreographer’s Society, and an Equity Membership Candidate. Thaler is a visual artist, activist, and filmmaker.
