Artistic Statement

i hope to gracefully & authentically showcase the voices of marginalized communities - particularly women, people of color, queer people, and differently-abled people - as more than 2-D caricatures or monoliths. compelled by naturalist roots, Southern Gothic blueprints, and speculative fiction ideals, i tend to explore themes including but not limited to: Blackness, identity, growing up, religious/family trauma, sibling relationships, mental health, otherness, and what it can look like to fall in and out of love. what especially draws me in is examining what home can mean - a place or even a person, and how it feels to leave and come back to it, whoever or whatever it may be.
