Artistic Statement

Artistic Statement

My plays are often about identity, whether individual or collected, rejected or evolving. Even when tackling painful topics or truths, I will find the humor and allow room for laughter. I also write fiction, but what I love about playwriting is how collaborative it is-- none of the stories I write for the stage are complete without the artistic contributions of actors, directors, designers, audience members. Plays are not meant to be read one-on-one, they are meant to be experienced together. There is something beautiful and perpetually terrifying about that.
