Artistic Statement

A lifelong lover of books, films, spoken word, opera, musicals, puppet shows (I was once VERY big on puppet shows) and theater, the more challenging the better (my first professional play was a Los Angeles production of "Blues for Mr. Charlie," and I was 9-years-old), I've primarily lent my energies to the art of play writing and stage performance because, in my experience, that's where the juiciest fruit seems to grow. Rarely willing to repeat myself twice, my plays have explored the genres of comedy, horror, fantasy, science fiction, drama, history and autobiography. My works takes big ideas and plays with them, not so much in an attempt to find answers, but to provoke more questions. I enjoy challenges, having recognized that some of my richest work has come when offered a commission to write on a subject I'd previous never considered.
