  • Paul Braverman: Lady Olympia's Legacy

This drawing room comedy is sure to please theatre audiences of all kinds. Great pacing and plenty of juicy characters for the actors to sink their teeth into. They are both absurd and yet still somehow relatable. All the action revolves around Lady Olympia, who seems as if she's been lifted from the early 1900s and dropped into modern times. I'd love to see a full production of this witty and charming play.

  • Paul Braverman: Hanging On For Near Life

This is a truly hilarious play that manages to be emotionally honest and grounded, while also being absurdist and outrageous. Not an easy trick, but Busser pulls this off with wit, charm and heart. The dynamic between mother and son is totally believable, no matter the extraordinary circumstance. A thoroughly entertaining play!

  • Paul Braverman: Lang Noir

I highly recommend this gripping, stylish drama. There is an atmosphere in this play that can be cut with a knife, using Lang's own style to grind on the dreadful, pending decision. I was hooked on this right from the start, and enjoyed every minute of it.

  • Paul Braverman: Crawl Space

Kyle does an excellent job of with this two-hander. As the story unfolds, we have nods to many of the elements of horror and procedurals but in an understated way that draws us in. It is an enjoyable ride, and when the penny drops late in the play, you'll want to go back and read the whole thing again!

  • Paul Braverman: Prayer Circle

I saw this reading at the Valdez Theatre Conference. For me, it was a highlight of the conference. It was one of those rare, shared experiences where everyone in the room was laughing for the first half, gripping their chairs during the second half and weeping by the time it ended. The characters are wonderfully drawn, the story is topical, and the writing is absolutely top notch. Brilliant!!!

  • Paul Braverman: Watercolors

I heard WATERCOLORS read at the Valdez Theatre Conference. It was a highlight. Having heard/read many of his plays, I think WATERCOLORS is one of his absolute best. Philip explores grief and love with a rare courage, plumbing his own life to present authentic characters who you will quickly come to know and care about deeply. Filled with exceptional writing and heart, I highly recommend this moving one-act.

  • Paul Braverman: An Audience of One

What starts out as a fast-paced "slice of life" piece ultimately reveals itself to be a highly insightful short play on our human need for meaningful contact. The unusual form gets your attention, and then the Hero's eventual eruption grabs you by the lapels. This is master class in short play construct. This was one of my favorite plays at the '24 Valdez Theatre Conference.

  • Paul Braverman: Cabana Boy

Cabana Boy is another gem from Philip. One of the hallmarks of Philip’s work is the humanity of his characters. Each one is well-drawn, believable and interesting. The story is compelling and relevant, filled with humor and empathy. This is a romantic comedy you can really sink your teeth into.

  • Paul Braverman: A Life Enriching Community

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this play when it was presented at the Midwest Dramatists Conference. Philip has done an excellent job in this short play of creating two characters that we come to love. We quickly get a depth of understanding about the relationship between this aging, gay couple, and the transition they are dealing with. There is a lot of subtext packed into ten minutes. I heartily recommend A Life Enriching Community.
