Great physical comedy elements. A perfect example of the "straight person" and the "frantic/neurotic patsy." Twists and turns, misdirect and escalation. Super funny.

So funny, so dark, so clever! Mercury is surprising, creative and deliciously evil. It's satisfying in all the right ways. The writing is excellent. The characters are so wonderfully cruel and fantastic. Everyone wants something, everyone is working for some clear goal and the stakes are high and hilarious until that moment when it's completely terrifying! (Great moment of theatre!) It's so much fun to watch people fall into their deepest, darkest places and attempt to crawl their way back out. This is a great play to add to any season!

I love, love, love this play! Had a little bit of everything! So funny, so clever, and a twist at the end I did not expect. It's not just funny, but also carries depth, layers, meaning and purpose. The dialogue is smart, relatable. There's great comedic timing in the work, catches you on the first page. And then there's this moment when it starts turns and you see it's not just a funny, entertaining sketch or a skit. The characters reveal themselves, and we experience more than just their surface motivation. Really great!

Someone once said (and it has since been said about a thousand times more) that a good 10-minute play leaves you wanting more... leaves you wanting to know what happens next in the lives of the characters. In Death Defying, you feel connected and interested right away. It's interesting and subtle and curious. It draws you in. Really great example for anyone looking to learn more about 10-minute plays.
